Sorry to keep everyone hanging for so long- but coach is back from vacation and I have the trophies. I want to get together with everyone this week for McDonald's, maybe? My treat for the kids (Happy meals and maybe ice cream; depending on time constraints)- parents your on your own, sorry but none of you played in enough of the games to earn McNuggets. If you will each let me know whether or not Monday night at 6:00 pm at the White House McDonald's is alright with you, I would appreciate it. I look forward to seeing you all Monday night and if for any reason you can't make it, let me know that as well- I'll get the trophy to you one way or another. Please feel free to just stop in pick up the trophy and Happy Meal, I promise you I will not be offended, if you've got something else going on- to make it easier.

Great Season!

Great job WHYS Little Lions!!! I wish we could have had more games at more consistent times but I hope all of the kids had fun when we did play. I will be in touch with everyone as soon as we are back in town around the 8th of June to schedule some sort of a play day with lunch involved to get them all their trophies (and maybe even a patch or two). Please let me know via email or phone call which weekend would work best for you in June the 13th-14th, 20th-21st, or even the 27th-28th if you want or need to push it back that far. I just want to get a weekend where all 5 of the kids can be there at the same time- whether we go to the park or to McDonald's Playland. I'm proud of each and every one of the kids for how much they grew, progressed and socialized with other team's players over the last season. I hope they want to continue and if you, as their family saw anything that I could have done better, please let me know for the years to come. Talk to you soon.

Games and Make-ups

Thank you Dylan Frary for taking on all of the Black Team last night until we had our makeup game cancelled due to the weather. The games today will be played on a 4 hour delay according to the rain-out line. This means we are to play at 3:00 today on field 4A instead of playing at 11:00. Please let me know if your child will not be there. I know we are already down 2 for today as Briley is at home with strep and Dylan Garner's Mother called today to tell me he will be in Ohio with her for the next few days. Bailey's will have snacks today should our game be played at 3:00.

Games and Make-ups

I know I talked to most everyone yesterday about our game at 10am Saturday and having one on Wednesday, May 6 at 6pm to makeup the April 11 game. Well... I received word this morning from the coach of team# 111 that we were set to play, that they will not be there. She confirmed with me and the commissioner before she checked with the players. She would only have 2 there that night out of 6. Our game missed on 3-28-09 against team 105 will be played Monday night at 6pm and I am still working with them on the following week concerning the other. To summarize, Saturday morning, May 2, 9:45am, Kinnedie Whitby has snacks, Field 4B; Monday evening, May 4, 5:45pm, Dylan Frary has snacks for makeup of 3-28 game, Field 4A. I will get with you as soon as I have anything else on our other makeup game or any other news.

3 hour Game Delay -- 4/11/09

As of this morning, we are going to try to play the games but on a 3 hour delay. Which means that, for all of you mathematicians out there, instead of playing at 10am- our game is being played at 1pm. So Little Lions get a good breakfast and lunch and maybe even a little catnap. I have finally gotten the snack schedule updated, so if they reschedule our March 28 game the Frary's will have snack that game rather than the last game. Bailey's you all have snacks if we play today, otherwise, everyone else was just bumped down a week on the website. I hope we get to see everyone today- If not, we'll try it again next Saturday. I will be in contact with each of you today to verify that you know what is going on today.

Hello Little Lions and Parents-
Sorry so late getting this to you, just in case you have not heard or seen the WHYS website, all games and practices for tomorrow are off. I will be in touch with everyone on Saturday, March 28, 2009 to make sure everyone knows by no later than 9:00 am. Thanks for keeping up with us. Please call me anytime with any questions you might have. You all should have my Cell number and home phone number on the Little Lions website and WHYS.com. If not I will send them momentarily in a quick e-mail to everyone.
Rest up Little Lions, we are going to try to practice Wednesday for a little while, if the league will let us and then we have a game next Saturday. Keep working on your "ROAR"s!

I know we are all anxious to start games...well, last night I got our uniforms and game schedule.
We are the purple little lions (which turned out well for Kinnedie and Briley). Our 1st scheduled game is Sat. the 28th at 12:00 on field 4B, next to the concessions stand. Please refer to the snack schedule and I will print copies of both game and snack schedule for everyone. As of this morning, I would not think we would be practicing tonight but you never know. If practice gets cancelled due to rain please go ahead and meet me at the top parking lot for uniforms, game schedules and snack schedules. That will give them all a chance to try them on before Saturday and get excited about things. Moms, dads, grandparents- the uniforms may need to be washed as they are fresh out of the plastic wrap... your decision. See you tonight at the top parking lot or practice field at 5:30.

Practices?!?

Alright, here's the scoop... The fields are all closed until Saturday the 21st for repair (evidently a bit torn up from the rain and the tournament this past weekend). On the 21st we will practice at 10:30 in the same area we have been in the past- on the back side of the concession stand, away from the majority of the fields. Should anything happen between now and then I will keep you apprised of the happenings. I am going to check around to see if there is anywhere we might be able to practice this week before Saturday around the parks just for practice sake. With baseball going on, however, that may not be easy. Please keep Thursday open just in case they get their repairs completed early. Thanks, once again.

Next Practice!!!!

My apologies... there are to be no practices this week through this weekend. Next Monday the 16th we will practice at 5:30; and then on Thursday the 19th, we will practice at 5:30 as well.

I appreciate all of your help on Saturday with the "little lions," I think it went better than I expected. They are all getting to know each other a little better and get to feel a little more comfortable walking and running with the ball. We will continue to see improvements with that and the "stage fright" or shyness, whichever way you prefer to look at it. The more comfortable we can get them with us all watching during practices, the less of an impact the game atmosphere will make. They are doing great and I hope they are all having as much fun as Briley and me.
Thanks again for all your patience through the last few weeks and for all your hard work with the kids in helping. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call on me.

No Practice on 2/28

The fields are closed as of today, Saturday, February 28, 2009. There will be no practices today. We'll try it again on Wednesday at 5:30. Just in case you were wondering why the picture this time... We are now The Little Lions!!! Thank you everyone for taking part. At this point, there are so many votes for this name, there would be no catching up.

Team Name and Mascot!!!

First, I should let you all know that "The Little Lions" is running away with it. Secondly, we have two new requests for a team name and those are the "Dragonflies" and the "Penguins". Pleasevote just one more time from here on out either online through the website, by phone, by email, or at practice assuming we meet before our first game- ha, ha. I am going to update the poll to reflect the new options as well as the lead the others had minus the one vote I gave everyone of them to begin with.

Practice Schedule

Just to be on the safe side I thought I would redo what I have noted below. But please notify me either by email, home phone or cell phone if your child will not be able to attend practices or games.
Wed, February 25, at 5:30 pm - assuming they can get the lights working- I will be hearing back from the Commissioner about that one. Next practice will be Sat. the 28th at 10:30 am then the following Wed., the 4th of March at 5:30, and again on Sat. the 7th at 10:30 and so on until the 28th of March when we are scheduled to start playing games.
Each of the kids will be receiving patches, magnets or something similar to those listed on the website below, although not nearly detailed as it is shown on their site- please take a look at it. I will be giving out some things for practice, bravery, game-time participation and sharing/ good sportsmanship, and possibly listening- depending on how much I feel the need for that one come game time... http://www.soccerhelp.com/SoccerHelp_Patch_Handout.shtml

Welcome

Thanks to you who were able to come to the complex to meet me, as informal as it was. I am really looking forward to the fun we are going to have this season as I hope you and the kids are. By the end of the season my goal is to leave them still wanting to play some more and to leave each of you knowing how to practice with them at home... All of you ready to coach next year!? Even if you're not the coaching type, this is a great game and expecially exciting to watch the young ones having as much fun as I hope they do and learning at the same time.
